20,000 core drillings in the Weser Tunnel
On 19.01.03 the Weser Tunnel at Dedesdorf near Bremerhaven was opened by Mr Manfred Stolpe, then Federal Minister of Transport. Our order was worth approx. 300,000.- €.
Approx. 20,000 core holes, dia. = 32 mm, had to be drilled in the tunnel walls for the mounting of impact walls. Subsequently the approx. 20,000 shear force pins were glued into these carottage openings. The tensile testings required were carried out under our direction as well. Moreover we installed 25,000 m² special corrugated foil on the tubular walls in an elaborate way (to ensure the evacuation of the condensation water along the tunnel walls.)
