Asbestos removal acc. to TRGS 519
For the past twelve years we have worked with qualified personnel to carry out hard asbestos removals.
This applies to external facades, roofs, hall claddings, piping, ventilation systems, flange gaskets and asbestos-contained Eternit panels. (TRGS 519 - Technical Rules for Hazardous Substances)
Removal and disposal of artificial mineral fibres (AMF) acc. to TRGS 521
Furthermore we are authorized to remove and dispose of mineral insulating materials acc. to TRGS 521.
This applies to mineral wool, glass wool, slag wool, ceramic fibres etc.
The special safety measures for demolition, removal and maintenance works concerning asbestos and dangerous materials containing asbestos as well as the disposal thereof are defined in TRGS 519 (Technical Rules for Hazardous Substances - Asbestos).
Until 20 years ago asbestos was the most often used insulation material for fire protection, asbestos was employed in a major way as roof covering and facade cladding (asbestos cement, e. g. Eternit).
Since the early 80s there has been a response to the health risks arising from the asbestos fibre. As a result of material wear asbestos fibres are released and thus become a threat to health.
The asbestos fibres released during demolition, removal and disposal therefore require particular safety measures to protect the workers as well as the environment, e. g. protection suits, enclosures, suction devices and moistening.
Special medical check-ups provide additional protection for the workers.
Acc. to TRGS 519 a task schedule has to be produced and to be submitted to the authorities. This schedule includes:
- Material composition and properties of the dangerous materials containing asbestos
- Duration of the works
- Place and type of execution
- Number of operatives
- Method statement
- Details of protection measures and personal protective equipment
- Measures and installation respectively to protect and decontaminate the operatives working in the hazard area
- Proof of the intended orderly disposal (manner and place)
Thus asbestos removals cannot be carried out by everybody. The company has to prove its technical competence and the skills of its workers. Our workers gain their expert knowledge required when dealing with asbestos through attendance of state-approved training courses.
