Wire sawing

Wire sawing / wire sawing into concrete / sawing with diamond wire

Wire sawing is a special way of concrete sawing. For technical and economic reasons it is used e. g. in the following cases:

  • larger wall thicknesses: 1 - 20m
  • for floor foundations with several metres of depth (e. g. plinths)
  • for the severing of big sewer pipes
  • for the forming of circular openings with a diameter of 1-6 m (by means of a circular saw used as a circulated wire saw)
  • for the sawing up of former bunker buildings

During a wire sawing operation a diamond-coated steel cord is trained over rollers around the workpiece up to a cable storage device. The cable storage device can receive 25 - 30 m cable. During the sawing process the diamond wire is kept taut by a hydraulic cylinder until the workpiece has been severed.
